I respectufully request that you will furnish me at the earliest practicable time the following information by -

I. A report showing the effective strength of the local troops here or the number that can be relied upon in defence of the city. It is desirable that this report should show the separate temporary organizations, etc, etc.

II A detailed report of the number and character of the local defence troops here, other than the detailed soldiers, etc.
