Samuel H. Stout Papers. University of Texas, Austin. http://www.lib.utexas.edu/taro/utcah/00042/cah-00042.html scroll down to Box 2.325/AA30 You may have to visit or contract with someone to look at this material. The overall collection is extensive. The material in each box will vary widely.

Location of Empire Hospital. Read the two links below and it will provide you with an idea of its location. You will not find it today.

Oakland Cemetery Book. The book is a transcription made in August, 1884, from the originals, which are now lost. If you go to the link that is labeled Empire Hospital and on the lower right hand side of the last page it describes the August 1884 location as "Whitehall Street where Mcnaught & Scrutchin's Hardware store now stands."
