As passed along oral history, we always heard that W.R. McEntire faced a courtmartial when he refused an order to surrender his field piece and instead opened fire. The story continued that things turned out well for our side, and it would have been embarrassing to bring charges and charges were dropped. In a "box" somewhere, I have a button from one of the reunions he hosted in Dallas for "his boys." The search goes on!
