I will be surprised if it is a significant per cent, although there certainly were some. An examination of where their fathers and grandfathers originated, would be a much larger number. (I'm just speaking of the 9th Georgia). I know that some regiments had a high percentage of German/Austrian, Irish, etc. It would be quite a research project, as, in many cases, there is not an "official" question related to "home country" to join, but it would be reported on some enlistment/muster rolls. My relatives in the 9th were several generations removed from Scotch-Irish-English descent via Virginia and the Carolinas. Interesting subject.......
