Dennis,

Thanks again. It was surprised to find out from the Lib. of the Confederacy, when I ask about uniforms, that the Medical Dept. did not have any specific uniform, but did have a service color. The color was green, unlike their Union counterparts who's color was black. I am having a uniform made up for SCV and MOS&B events and will use the green trim on a gray frock coat etc. Only two ranks were used (3 actualy when you count the Colonel in Richmond) and those were Assistant Surgeon (equivalent to Capt.) and Surgeon (equivalent to Major) Rank markings were on the collar with scrole work on the sleve and top of hat same as with other officers. The LOC published a book on the Medical Dept. that I recently purchased.

As far as the picture goes, I am going to VA this summer between summer session on campus (unless I get stuck teaching a long summer class)and have contact with the Holloway family who live in Fredericksburg. I hope to locate Dr. Holloway's letters and a picture,if any exist. I have a picture of my Great Great Grandmother, "Dr. H's" older sister, so the family did have their pictures taken. I also have a 1937 WPA picture of "Spring Garden" the family plantation in Caroline Co. It is now gone and the land is part of Army base, AP Hill.
