I had Alan Pitts do a compete search of both National Archives and Georgia CSA Records and I have a fairly complete service record on Dr. Hollowy. He was Robert Green Holloway, Jr. of Spring Garden Plantation, Caroline County, VA. Educated at Rappahannock Academy & Military Institute, University of Virginia, and University of Pennsylvania (MD 1856 from Penn) I know that there was another Robert G. Holloway who served from VA in the CSA, but he was a soldier in the Inf. and the dates are wrong. The Ast. Surgeon, Robert G. Holloway (aka RG Holloway) was my Dr. Holloway. He was at White Sulphur Springs after serving in Richmond at hospital #6. For most of the war, Dr. Holloway was an Ast. Surgeon, being promoted to Surgeon on April 1, 1865. (not much war left) He shows up on a list of paroled prisoners at Provost Marshal's Office, Bowling Green, VA (page 7) as RG Holloway, Surgeon, Maj. 38th Regt. Georgia. Parole date May 12, 1865. He was paroled to Caroline County, VA. (Bowling Green, VA is the county seat of Caroline County) I also have an archive card that shows RG Holloway, Surgeon 38' Ga. April 1/65. I have a copy of the Pension records from his wife, Lilie (Amiss)Holloway. Dr. Holloway practiced medicine after the war in Caroline County for 50 yrs. and passed in 1919 at age 87.
