George - My sincere thanks for your post. I had not as yet taken time to look at the O.R. and it was on my list of things to research. I will also investigate the hospitals you mentioned. When I went to Austin to research the Stout papers, my focus was only on the "Vineville" section of Macon, as I thought Celathiel might have been there. I have since learned that some "hospitals" at that time were no more than tents where soldiers were brought in and laid on the ground. I will try to find any records Dr. Stout may have had on the Atlanta hospitals you mentioned. It may mean another trip to Austin. I will also get a copy of "Gangrene and Glory". Thanks very much...
