Ruff's Mill was located in Cobb County, at the site on Concord Road where it crosses Nickajack Creek. The single lane covered bridge dates to 1872. The original, built in the 1850's was burned during the war. The creek valley here is very deep and narrow. The old railroad track, now a hiking trail, lies to the east a few hundred yards, crossed by a modern single lane bridge. The area is the Covered Bridge Historic District. Smyrna is about 3 mies to the east, in south Cobb County. One historic marker is at this site: http://georgiainfo.galileo.usg.edu/gahistmarkers/smyrna-ruffhistmarker.htm

Old Concord Road ends at Concord Road atop the ridge east of Nickajack Creek.

This marker is at the east end of the covered bridge: http://georgiainfo.galileo.usg.edu/gahistmarkers/battleruffsmillhistmarker.htm

Hope this helps. You can see Kennesaw Mountain from the top of the hill at South Cobb Drive and Concord Road. It's a few miles north northwest. My house is just to the northeast, about three miles from the intersection. In fact, we have been looking at a house about a mile west of the bridge. We are torn between it and building a new one back this side of the bridge, off north Cooper Lake Road. Stan
