I quoted from Monaghan, because that was the closest thing to my fingertips, besides my book, which stays on my desk. The bibliography in my book lists 69 magazines, 40 books, several letters, 1860 MO census records, several newspaper articles, brochures, newsletters, OR references, and telephone calls. I read anything and everything I could find concerning Quantrill and his men for over 10 years before compiling the information into my book.

While there were only 4 references under Stand Watie, there were 20 under Quantrill. I just didn't feel like looking up all the references and quoting from them. Sorry, I picked Monaghan's.
