Re: Indian Participation - Prairie Grove Campaign

I realize it's a long time since the posting of your original message, but I just read it. Not sure if you're still looking for info on Bryan's Battalion.

Source: Confederate States Army Trans-Mississippi Order Book 1862-1864:Brigadier-General John S Marmaduke, Part I,transcribed by Carolyn M Bartels,Two Trails Publishing,2000. On pg 45, a 1 Dec 1862 letter from R.C. Newton to BG D.H. Cooper:

"...,and will then immediately establish communication with the pickets of Marmaduke's division(which are of Bryan's Cherokee Battalion) on the Line Road, communicating to them promptly all information you may gain of the enemy's movements."

Don't know if this is of any help.

Sincerely,

David
