Thanks Danny. It seems the town of Krebs is too far south to be near this Joe Kribbs (Cribbs, Krebs) but seems it must be the same Choctaw family.

You mentioned a stop on the California Road from Ft Smith to Edwards. I assume Edwards to be the trading post at the mouth of Little River across from Old Fort Holmes (later bought out by Ards and shown as such on later maps). As I recall, this road was Beale's Wagon Road that ran from Ft Smith via Scullyville along the south side of the Arkansas to the Canadian. Then along the south side of the Canadian until crossing to Edwards on the north side of the river. So, a Krebs on this road could likely be in the vicinity of present Whitefield.

There's an article in the Chronicles of OK (online) about Beale's Wagon Road with a map that I'll check.

Anyone out there have a copy of Grant Foreman's "Advancing the Frontier"? I don't know if our local library has a copy or not. I may have to drive down to Tulsey Town.
