I found two letters from the Cherokee Cavaliers both from-Adjt.Osage Batt.- L.P.Chouteau to Col.James M. Bell--1st letter-

Hqs.Osage Battalion address: Cherokee town,C.N. Sept. 1st 1864--pg 185-186 stated--- Major A. J. Dorn our agent was here and informed us the Osage that Col. S.S. Scott,Commissioner of Indian affairs, has arrived at Sherman Texas and brot the Osage money anuiety with him and he was going to perchase goods for us---Etc.

pg 209-210
2nd letter,L.P.Chouteau to James M. Bell-- Address:Head Qrs Osage Camp Dorn C.N.Jan. 21, 1865
This was a short letter --said they might raid Kansas-take horses-this did-not happen-- also asked for clothing
