Hey Manny. I haven't had time to analyze the
numbers but he must be talking about just a
segment of the Union force. He doesn't mention
the cavalry that crossed upstream to clear the
Confederate pickets. Cooper's effective strength is
significantly overstated in all Union accounts.

I'm on the road this weekend and will look when I
get back to "the Ville". Went to OU Western History
Collection yesterday. Read some of Stephan Forman's
Papers. Facinating stuff. Read his journal about the
anarchy during the three weeks between Greeno's
visit to Ross and Ross's exodus, with Pins and freed
slaves plundering and murdering the "Southern
Men".
