Re: account of 2nd Colorado Vols at Honey Springs

Hello Bryce,
Yes, there is quite a bit on Price's Missouri Invasion. Although there are a few issues missing from the online collection, in general it covers the unit from the formation of the 1st Colorado Volunteers (infantry) through the consolidation with the 3rd Colorado to form the 2nd Colorado Cavalry to the end of the war. There is also some information on the Colorado Battery.

Go to: http://www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org/Default/Skins/Colorado/Client.asp?Skin=Colorado&AW=1310126582456&AppName=2

Search for: "Second Colorado"

Search in Publication: Colorado Transcript (Golden, Jefferson County)

Select Time Period: Date Range

From Date: February 1, 1877
To Date: June 1, 1877

Sort by: Date Ascending

The history of the regiment actually begins with the March 14th edition. The prior issues are regarding a veterans reunion and letters received by those who could not attend. Price's Invasion begins with the May 2nd edition.

Of course, you can vary the 'Search For' field to get different results, such as searching for "Colorado Battery". Also, there is some information in other newspapers and outside the above date range. Searching all publications for all dates will generate many results and then you just have to browse through them to see what they contain.
