Hello All! I go out practically every weekend with a friend of mine from the Louisville Zoo. Our focus is to document and photograph species of reptiles and amphibians across the state of KY. We travel across the state to just about every area imaginable. For the last two years we have focused primarily in Hart and Edmonson counties. There are a number of species that occur there that have limited ranges. While searching in this area we became aware that some significant events occured in this region during the ACW. We have seen some historical markers in Munfordville that indicated a battle fought both there, and at nearby Rowletts Station. After doing a little searching on the internet I was able to find out that there was a seige there and a military action. I also found out that there is a monument near Horse Cave dedicated to an unknown Confederate soldier. Unfortunately, to this point I can't seem to find out much more than a very brief description of what occured. I have always enjoyed history, and after spending so much time in the area, I have developed a special interest in the events that happened there. If anyone has any detailed information regarding the events and actual sites of engagements we would be very appreciative.
