Rose Mary,

Bewleyville has always been in Breckinridge County and census and tax records are available to prove this. Meade County was formed from Breckinridge and Hardin Counties in 1823. What interested me about your post on a battle/skirmish in or near Bewleyville, was that I had never heard or read of one. Thanks for posting this. The closest thing to a battle that I'm aware of, was the local story about a Union soldier who tried to kill a boy who spit in his face. There was an actual battle/skirmish fought in the Meadeville community in Meade County, about 5 miles northeast of Bewleyville. Some of the Confederate dead from that fight were buried in the Meadeville Cemetery. Do you think it's possible Bewleyville might have been confused with Big Spring which is about 10 miles southeast of there, and where Breckinridge, Hardin, and Meade Counties meet? There was a lot of activity in that area during the War Between The States and both sides occupied the town at various times.
