Re: 1st to 3rd Kentucky Cavalry CSA

According to his daughter's (Berta) United Daughters of the Confederacy application, James Irvine Jackson served in the 1st to 3rd Kentucky Cavalry under Gen Morgan and the 2nd to 18th Mississippi Cavalry under Gen Chalmers. His record of service was stored at the Stonewall Jackson Bivouac in McKenzie, TN. He was captured while on furlough and held as a POW until the end of the war. It is possible that he wa serving in the Mississippi Cavalry when captured.

He was born in 1832 in Nort Carolina. In May 1858, he married Rhoda Ann Hopson in Christian County, KY.

According to the 1860 Census, he lived in District 1(McKenzie, I believe), Henry County, TN. I believe he moved back to Tennessee after the War since his daughter was born in Henry County, TN in 1868. He died in Carrol County, TN in Jun 1898.
