Since Paris is the county seat of Henry County TN, the Kentucky service file fits your description perfectly. He was going home.

No 'J' Jacksons in either the 2nd or 18th Mississippi Cavalry really fit. Since the three Kentucky service files account for much of his time between October 1862 and May 1865, I can't imagine when James Jackson would have been with either Mississippi command.
