You are still missing the point. I have seen many examples of Confederate veterans getting US pensions for service in the Mexican War, but individuals were supposed to be barred from receiving a pension if they had any way supported the rebellion. My great-great-great-great grandmother's widow's pension application for her husband's service in the War of 1812 was sent back requesting proof that her husband had not supported the rebellion in any way. I have examples of some former Confederates that applied, didn't mention their Confederate service, and had known local Unionists supply affidavits saying they had been loyal during the war and not supported the rebellion.
