Charles:

Hi Cousin. This is how we first met. We were both reseaching our great grand paw, Emile Simon Fontenot and met by chance. I just happened to be reading your message on the message board. I noticed in your question that you mentioned Francois Fontenot as being with Lastie Matt. Lastie Matt(Correctly spelled Matte) is my 4th Great Grand Paw. I recently obtained a picture of him from my grandmother who actually met Lastie's Wife as a child. In the photo, Lastie is with his wife and another couple. I believe they married in 1867. I'll be glad to email the picture if you are interested. My grandmother and I recently tried to find Lastie's grave in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Church Point but were unsuccessful. I knew Lastie was at the proper age to serve in the war but I couldn't find any information on him till I read your question. I didn't know they had his name spelled Matt in the records. Man, I appreciate the information. Any other information on Lastie or his regiment would be appreciated. Thanks again. When I get back to Grand Prarie, I'll look you up.
