Dr. Bergeron

Thanks for your response relative to Taylor Hospital (TH) and its primary location. Is it your understanding that the TH was moved as necessary to support General Taylor's command? Do you know if there is a specific repository for TH records, particularly for staffing?

As a second point of discussion, I have a significant interest in the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry (CSA). Can you tell me if the Jackson Barracks archives have much in the way of 2ndLC records and information? I would like to obtain detail and rosters of the 2ndLC men captured at Henderson Hill on March 21-22, 1864. I have searched the Booth Compendium and have developed a list of 263 members of the 2ndLC that were listed as captured in this time window (at Natchtoches, near Natchitoches, at Alexandria, near Alexandria, at St. James Store [1 listing], at Henderson Hill [1 listing]), with most being exchanged at Red River Landing on July 22, 1864 and several dying in Federal Hospitals in New Orleans (approx 2 dozen). 263 seems high based on the OR numbers (15 offiers & 192 enlisted = 207). I have also developed draft lists (searching Booth) captured at Franklin/Irish Bend (93 names) on April 14, 1863, the Salt Works (15 names [Avery Island?]), Jeanerette - Jan12-Feb16, 1864 (29 names), etc.

At some point and at your convenience, I would appreciate communicating directly with you relative to the 2ndLC.

Thanks again.

Don
