Mr. Gillespie, thank you for the response. He was most assuredly in the Confederacy, and he did lose his leg as a result. The problem I have had all these years is the absolute dearth of ANY information of he or anything about him. He had two daughters that I know of, one, my great grandmother, and her sister, all those lines have died out. I have my great grandmother's Bible with the children listed and etc., but quite obviously they had little or no education as was common to the time. I think that I may as well put this one to bed, I have gotten far to old to hope for much in it anymore.
