Re: 2nd Louisiana Cavalry Adjutant

Thanks! From what I just skim-read, it seems Alphonse continued as a recruiting officer. I know he and Winter Breazeale were the organizers of a battalion of "Partisan Rangers" that winds up a major component of the 2nd LA Cavalry. Company C of Breazeale's Battalion of Partisan Rangers was known as the Ile Breville Rangers or Prudhommes. (Ile Breville is an island between the Cane and Old Rivers, south of Natchitoches. It was also the location of Prudhomme's Bermuda Plantation.) C Company of the Rangers becomes D Company of the 2nd Cav. Interestingly enough, Alphonse and Breazeale were also in the 3rd Infantry during 1861-1862 (Oak Hills & Elkhorn Tavern). In April-May 1861, they formed the Pelican Rifles No.1, which becomes G Company of the 3rd Infantry.
