I am writing on behalf of a friend who is in his late years and remembers a story about Yellow Bayou that he wonders if anyone has written about. One of the Union officers in the battle had his young son with him. The boy dressed in full uniform and participated in the fighting along with his father. The boy was killed at Yellow Bayou.
Does anyone remember hearing about this? Are there any published sources I could order for him?
From a web search, it seems that the Union troops were led by Joseph A. Mower--XVI Corps 1st and 3rd divisions.
I know this is a shot in the dark, but I really appreciate your input.
Best, Marcy Frantom
