Clay, if you don't mind sharing the info, who is your brother and when was he pastor at Siloam? I'm from Gansville--well, actually down the road a couple of miles near the Cypress Creek church in what is known as the Hoghair Community--but I attended services at Siloam a number of times as a youngster and many of my Dodson High School classmates were members. The road that branches off US 167 at Wyatt and goes to Gansville is actually La. 505. It is the road that Gray's Brigade took from Trenton (West Monroe) to Alexandria in early 1864. Just before you get to Tannehill, the old road veered to the right (south)and crossed Dugdemona River at what is known locally as Luke's Crossing. It then continued to Winnfield and Pineville. Art Bergeron's book "Reminiscences of Uncle Silas," a memoir of one of the brigade members, gives a good account of the unit's march through Louisville and the general area. The 28th Louisiana, which included my gggrandfather, was largely raised from Winn Parish and Grisamore mentions how a large number of women lined the road and even accompanied the men on their march in order to see family members.
