I forgot to mention that I think the records are either mistaken about Lalonde's capture or there's another Louisville somewhere. No Yankee ever got within probably 50 miles of Louisville during the war and there certainly were none around in May 1863. There was a lot of Unionist and Jayhawker activity in the region so there's a slight chance they might have grabbed him but I don't think they would have taken the time and trouble to transport one man, or even a few, all the way to Union lines. In May 1863 the closest Union soldiers would have been in Alexandria, about 60-70 miles away.
