6th LA Cavalry
Organized: on 8/1/64
Mustered Out: 5/26/65

The regiment was first organized in the Trans-Mississippi Department during the winter of 1863-64, as Harrison's Battalion Louisiana Cavalry. It was later increased to a regiment by the addition of unattached companies and designated the 6th Regiment Louisiana Cavalry.

There are no Company D muster rolls in the records. For, Company I, the last surviving muster roll is that dated Feb. 20, 1864. This would indicate that G. W. would have enlisted sometime after that date.
