J B Whittington

Gentlemen

I would be interested to learn if any of you have information on J B Whittington. There are two J B Whittington's mentioned in Booth, NARA M320, NPS-CWSS, etc. The first was a 1st Lt in Co. C or 3 of the Washington Artillery (May to August of 1861) and the second was a 1st Lt and then Capt. of Co. B, 2nd LA Cavalry (Sept 1862 to May 1865). I think this may be one person, but I haven't been able to find conclusive evidence. They both were in New Orleans 1858-1860, they both were lawyers (Capt. Whittington - 2nd LA - went to Law School at the University of Louisiana, now Tulane Law). They both had a wife named Mary Ann or Annie.

I have all of the information from Booth, NARA, NPS-CWSS, etc., plus a number of newspaper articles on JB Whittington, and am looking for evidence to prove they are the same man, or to prove that they were two different men.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don
