Thanks for this information. It still leaves me with the issue of whether or not we are looking at one, two or three men. I think the probability is that this is one man and Mary Ann Kildredge Whittington was indeed his wife. I think the LA Pension people swept all of the potential units into the file, without surely knowing whether they were looking at the right person. With the over lapping of names that was so common of an issue, it was understandable.

I will order the pension file to see if there is any clarifying information.
