I also have been unable to locate him or Hirsh. A search for "Hirsh" yielded not one hit in the entire
Official Records.

Here's one man who could be him, unfortunately, there is only one card in his record which would seem to indicate he had been dropped from the rolls sometime during the summer of 1862.

"B" Co. LA 6th Infantry

enlisted March 4, 1862 at New Orleans, no other records

Organized at Camp Moore (near Tangipahoa) in May 1861, they [6th La. Inf.] were mustered into Confederate service in June under Colonel Isaac G. Seymour (killed June 1862). They were at 1st Manassas (21 July 1861), on the Shenandoah Valley Campaign (May-June 1862), and at 2nd Manassas (28-30 August 1862) before the Maryland Campaign

Company B Muster Roll for July & Aug., 1862, dated Nov. 27, 1862 [There are no prior muster rolls for the year 1862]
Marched from the Rappahannock to Brito on the 25 and 26 of August fired on two of the enemys trains and capturing them had skirmish on the 27. Marched to Manassas, engaged on the 29 at Manassas
