The Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board

Ross Wheat's autograph is on...

a document for rations for his command.

The 7th Louisiana book is very basic with facts, nothing that you haven't seen.

I was working on a book on the Louisiana units in the Army of Northern Virginia, but wasn't going to put it out until I was 40, I started to work on the book in 1977 and wanted to get all the information I could. Which at that time meant one had to do alot of traveling and years of research. In the mean time Terry Jones put his work out on the the Louisiana units and I really like his work, there are a few things he didn't cover and somethings that should be added, but overall its a great work. As I posted earlier I send him a copy of Kelly's work on Port Republic.

With todays computers it is far easier to find the information.

I'm turning 50 next year and working on a book on LSU football which will be in 4 parts, game by game from 1892 until today.

But the Civil War is my first love and still enjoy reading about Louisiana in the war and collect all the books on Louisiana in the war.

I first met Art the year he took over the state archives, and spend many hours down at the old archives building years before he took over and after he took over. Art is a great person and was very helpful to me.
