Re: Amos Fisher, Co. B , 8th La. Cavalry

Thank you very much for your responses and the 1910 census data. I have used this data base before, but I am embarrassed to admit that I never noticed the column indicating veteran status. I checked the 1910 census for the status of for two known veterans. One was also a veteran of Co. B, 8th Cavalry, and the other, a resident of St. Landry and a nephew of Amos Jr. Both are listed as confederate veterans. This supports the hypothesis that the veteran in question was Amos Jr and not his son Amos K. However, although I have found census data to be very helpful, this information can be misleading on occasion.
