I ran those names against the 1860 MO Census index with mixed success. The trouble with most soldiers of the Civil War against this census index is that the index lists only heads of households and many or most Civil War soldiers were not heads of households.

The names following seem to produce postitive results:
Bowen, Reece: R. R. Bowen of Libery Twp, Barry Co.
Coshaw, William: Wm. Coshaw, Fabius Twp, Schuyler Co.
Graham, George W.: same name in Grape Grove Twp Ray Co. or

G. W. Graham in Salt River Twp, Knox Co.
Harrison, J. J.: James J. Harrison Equality Twp Miller Co.
Mills, Jackson: same name in Keytesville, Chariton Co.
Murrey, Andrew G.: Andrew Murry in Gallatin Twp Clay Co.
Simmons, John M.: same name in Union Twp Lincoln Co. and

same name in Union Twp Marion Co.
Turney, George: this surname only in Clinton, Holt,

Crawford, Macon, Marion, Pike, Linn, Shelby, Ray, and

Platte Counties.

As you can see, if these are the correct men, they came from all over the state. We can see a trend toward the northwest corner of MO along with your George C. Newton of Holt County for George W. Harrison, Andrew G. Murrey, and George Turney. The largest number I think I identified seem to come from northeast MO--namely William Coshaw, again George W. Graham, Jackson Mills, John M. Simmons, and again George W. Turney. The only one of the list you gave that seems to come from southwest MO is Reece Bowen.

This method is far from scientific, and I heartily recommend you follow up with more definitive research through these soldiers' individual records, especially since my search failed to show one or two specific MO counties. Frankly, I was disappointed with the results. I've used this method to identify the home counties of War of 1812 as well as Civil War companies, and sometimes it works.
