Another possibility is that his son's bio. was wrong as it states "served in the Union army as captain of a. company which he raised for service, and did valiant duty for the cause during the period of enlistment." JRT is nowhere to be found in the Lincoln and Pike co. Union army. I can find a Lt. John R. Thompson captured in Boone Co. of the 2nd MO (Martin Green or Burbridge command) on 5-20-62?
