Re: Capt. David Engart/Battle of Wilson's Creek

Stacy,

In Peterson, McGhee, Lindberg, and Daleen's landmark 1995 "Sterling Price's Lieutenants: A Guide to the Officers and Organization of the Missouri State Guard 1861-1865" on page 141 the authors give both names for Captain David Enyard/Engart who commanded the Daviess County Company D of the 1st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Division, MSG. They site as sources "Official Records" vol. 53, p. 428, and Carolyn Bartels' "The Forgotten Men" published Independence, 1995. "Price's Lieutenants" (and therefore those above sources for same) says this officer was killed at Wilson's Creek on 10 August 1861.
