Hi Brian,

Charles Fletcher Taylor was born May 19, 1842 in Zanesville, Ohio. He married Belle Vierheler in 1878 and was residing near Joplin at that time. His first wife, Wilhemina (no last name) died after a couple of years of marriage, they had no children. Belle produced 4 children: Maria, born 1879; Henry born 1882 & died 1883; Charles A. born 1885 & died 1892; John P. born in California 1892. Fletch & family moved to San Francisco, CA around 1892. Belle died before 1900 and he lived with his daughter Maria & her husband Frank L. Bateman, a physician. In 1910 he was in Oakland, CA living with the Batemans (their children were Lucille & Marjorie. John P. Taylor also lived there at age 18). Fletch died 1912 (age 69) in Oakland, CA; cause of death was cancer of the liver. He and his wife were cremated. His first burial was next to his wife in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in San Francisco, CA. He and his wife were then moved to a mass grave in Green Lawn Cemetery. The old tombstones marking the graves were removed & used to construct Acquatic Park seawall.
