This may have been discussed already, so forgive me if I'm bringing up "old" topics.
In reading the Civil War Diary of Robert Caldwell Dunlap (Landis Battery, Artillery, CSA), he mentions an 1862 battle at Newtonia which pitted 2 Indian units--one Federal and one Confederate--against each other. What were the units, and what tribes of Native Americans were involved in that battle?
