Did Union Indian units have Indian commissioned officers? I understand USCT troops could only have White Officers so I wonder is this true about Union Indian units? Were Indian troops paid the same has White troops? The only reference that I saw about Union Indian rifles were from OR from Col. Philips that his men had "Prussian Rifles". I dont know if that was the top rifle available to Unioin troops.
