Thank you for your thoughtfull and detailed reply. Your right in pointing out that the Indians were citizens of neither of the combatants nations. From looking at the CW regiment histories it appears that the 3rd IG was used in Mo has extensivly to fight irregulears has say the 2nd Colo or 3rd Wis but I am not sure. I didnt know that the 2nd IHG was racialy intergrated where White troops served under Indian officers certainly a radical concept for that era. I am not sure if some of the Indian veterens who were still alive in 1900 had their property preserved when the US govt revoked the IT and renamed it Ok.
