Thank you for your response. I have also been researching John C. Calhoun "Coon" Thornton in my study of guerrilla chieftians, and he isn't the same as Woodson Thornton. Coon Thornton operated mainly north of the Missouri River in Platte and Clay counties. The Woodson Thornton I refer to was in Saline County and the only mention I have found so far is in regards to Woodson Thornton and his bushwhackers disrupting the polls in Saline County in 1866. Thank you again for your response, I found the description of Coon's wife to be "colorful".
