Thank you for your reply. You are correct that my Orear ancestor lived in Arrow Rock township 3 miles south of Slater. The Orear who was a Master Sgt. in the MSG was R.H.L. Orear and was captured at the Battle of Blackwater in 1861. My ancestor from Grand Pass was William King White aka W. K. "Sandy" White . Also I'm interested in his Brother in law Hugh Gilham, who was a first cousin to Clark and Henry Hockensmith. "Shelby and His Men" from Edwards, lists a William White who was from Saline Co., and wounded at Prairie Grove, and the 1881 History of Saline Co. bio on WK White only says that Sandy was in Gordon's Rgt. and all the Battles of Price's Last Raid. Sandy lived 3-4 miles straight north of Baltimore Thomas, who you may recall from McCorkle as being friendly towards guerrillas. I believe Squirrel Tail Edwards had a scrape at Balt Thomas's and McCorkle mentions being in a scrape there. (Perhaps the same one?) As for Sandy's Brother in Law Hugh Gilham, I found his name on the list of the reunion of Shelby's Men from Higginsville 1885 that lists H. Gillham of Malta Bend, Gordon's Rgt.
