Re: MO relative in the 5th Kansas Cavalry?

Sandy,

Here's one for you. Daniel H. David served out of Missouri as the Captain of Company D, Joseph's Battalion, Six Months Militia from October 26, 1861 until February 11, 1862. After he was mustered out, on March 21, 1862 he recruited Company B of Colonel William Penick's (Old) Fifth Missouri State Militia Cavalry. This regiment was mustered out on June 22, 1863. After that, David rushed off to Kansas and organized and recruited the 14th Kansas Cavalry and was elected the Major of the regiment. It seems that it wasn't only enlisted men from Missouri who ended up serving out of Kansas.

Interesting, huh?
