In Response To: steamboats during the war ()

Carmen,
In doing a bit more research on just the name James Rose, I checked at the Find-A-Grave website, and found the following:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Rose&GSfn=James&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSst=26&GScntry=4&GSob=d&GRid=18789318&df=all&

Seems that this James Rose was a Pvt., U.S. Army, Civil War, and was buried at Jefferson Barracks (St. Louis) in 1864...not sure if this is "your" James Rose, but maybe a possibility?

Good Luck!
Maggie
