Dear Bruce,
My Grt-Grandfather, Abraham C. Snyder was a member of Co. G 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry--the Regt embarked from Benton Barracks on May 3rd 1862 and arrived at Ft Leavenworth May 11th 1862. Here they drew Horses and Horse Equipments. They were then assigned Provost Duty with their Colonel , Wlliam A Barstow being made Provost Marshall General of Kansas, and the various companies assigned to towns on the Kansas-Missouri border.

I have always assumed they were transported to Ft Leavenworth via a steamboat, but haven't found any info that confirms this. I would like to find out, if possible, the name of Steamboat they might have been transported on. Any ideas about this would be greatly appreciated!
