The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Union blockhouse in Columbia

Oh dear, and I have it up during Price's invasion. Well, 99.9% of my readers won't spot the error, and those that do can feel happy they got one up on a Missouri Civil War enthusiast!
Strange it took so long to put one up, considering that Columbia was a mostly Union town in a mostly secessionist county. If I had been the militia commander, building a blockhouse would have been my first priority. This is just another example of the Union forces in Missouri dropping the ball. No wonder the bushwhackers gave them so many thrashings.
