I, too have been away from the list too long, and since you bring up one of my favorite subjects, the 1864 Campaign of Maj. Gen. Sterling Price, I thought I might also venture a reasonable thought towards an answer.
Perhaps because Price failed in taking both his primary (St. Louis) and secondary (Jefferson City) objectives, plus the fact that troops were pursuing from Rolla, St. Louis, and then Kansas City, the book ends at that point. Just a thought.
By the way, I just bought your book on the Shelby 1863 raid. Well done.
