Jim I understand the confusion better now. Many of the online family trees has Jesse Story as described as the son of Larkin Story yet he would have been only 15 at the time of death described. Further the family story reports this Jesse as the son in law of John Nicholson. I just can't make those fit. The 54 y/o Jesse Story I described above is clearly married to Grace Mahan and had sons William, John and Jesse. Thus the confusion. He clearly is alive as late the 1880 census. His son Jesse Story would have been 12 or 13 in 1863 and survives in the 1870 census. This are all of Shannon Co. There is another family line in Oregon county that may fit better...
