I would be happy to check for an obituary on your relative in the Port Gibson newspaper, but unfortunately there are no existing issues for 1872-1873. There are however, existing papers for that time frame in Vicksburg, and if you relative was a prominent member of the community, the paper there might have published his obituary. I will check next week and see if I can find anything.
