S. J. Russell, Estilline, Texas filed application for Headstone [Flat Marker] November 22, 1939 in the name of Robert Rankin Russell, 2nd Lieutenant, Company B, 3rd ????, Bowen's Cavalry, Army of Missouri, C. S. A. died Dec. 31, 1872, enlisted last part of 1861, discharged late spring or early summer 1863, Name of cemetery, no cemetery but at our home near Port Gibson, Miss., shipped March 29, 1940

One Robert R. Russell served as 2nd Lieutenant, Co. B. 3rd Battalion Missouri Cavalry - C. S. A. He was from Capt Giradeau County - age - 42 years. The records show that he had prior service in the Missouri State Guard as 2nd Lt. Co. H, 5th Cavalry, 5th Division. There are no muster rolls on file in this office for any unit of the Mo. St. Guard
