Hi Jim -
thanks for your time and kind input on this!!!
I was speculating with Greg Miller that perhaps this "50th MO Inf. CSA" Boutwell (or his parents if still alive?) was made "an offer that couldn't be refused" and HAD to join up with the 50th EMM (similar to one of my Byrd uncles in the EMM there in Iron Co. MO) or something bad would happen to him/his parents/his family/etc.?
If so, whoever did the documentation for the CSA vet marker there in Scott Co. MO had it all wrong, n'cest pas???
btw, do you have any ideas re how I might determine if my g3-uncle Dr. Peter Owen Simmons (in 1860 Oregon Co. MO census) actually served as some sort of surgeon, etc. while he was in Fristoe's MO Cavalry??? I have heard that the Adjutant General's Office (AGO) records might be a place for look?
As described at:

thanks again Jim!!!!

Ken
